About David Walker
Taking his first snap at the age of 17 as a true freshman, David Walker is the youngest quarterback to ever play major college football. He is a former algebra teacher, high school football coach, father of two, and author. Nicknamed "Moon" by his Sulphur High teammates, David, at 16 years of age, was voted Louisiana's All-State Quarterback and the Outstanding Offensive Player in the state.
Originally an LSU signee in line to replace the heralded Bert Jones, David looked west to Texas A&M where he felt opportunities were more favorable, despite his very young age, to attain the starting quarterback position immediately as a freshman in a rising program. He won the starting job and was named the SWC's Freshman of the Year. David started 17 games before being sidelined in '75 after playing the latter part of '74 with a severe shoulder injury.
David had his neck broken in an SUV rollover and according to his physician, Dr. Jose Rodriguez of Houston, should be at this time totally paralyzed or even DOA because of the injuries he discovered while studying David's MRI. David slowly typed his book while in tremendous pain, yet unaware his injuries involved the dislocations of the C4 and C5 vertebrates. As Dr. Rodriguez jokes, "Only an Aggie quarterback would walk around for four months thinking he had a "little stinger" bothering him. He could have dropped to the ground at any moment."
David is the only college quarterback who never played professionally to write a book for publishing. "I'll Tell You When You're Good," an often-used quote by Coach Suarez, is the one sports book that readers have said they just can't put down.

"New School" bests "Old School" as Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel shatters a 35-year old school rushing record previously held by David Walker. The Aggies whipped the Sooners 41-13, while Walker's team came back from a 21-7 deficit to down SMU, 37-21, in his record-setting game in '77.
