Former Texas A&M Quarterback David Walker wants every high school recruit and his/her family to know the facts before they fax! David, a four-year starting quarterback and team captain for Texas A&M, suffered a serious sternoclavicular dislocation injury and is imminently qualified to discuss the hot topics of sports-related injuries, player protection and unionization.
David wants every recruit and his/her family to understand that NCAA rules do not mandate that athletic programs provide medical coverage for sports-related injuries. Athletic programs, in fact, have the option of whether or not to pay for an athlete’s medical expenses that result from sports-related injuries, and each NCAA school can have vastly different medical policies. David has written a book about his own experience with sports-related injuries suffered while playing quarterback at A&M. His book provides a real-world example of why the NCPA's mission and goals are so important. Know the facts before you fax! |
